Omega Dubai Desert Classic Day 1 and 2 Round Up - Dubai Documentary Photographer

What an eventful past two days! We've been unlucky with the weather, and it took a turn for the worse on Friday, forcing many people to go home early and the sun to hide much longer than I would have liked. HOWEVER, things have been great! This is the first time I cover a golf championship. I'm excited to have been able to document such an important event on the Dubai calendar of activities.

It was quite an eye opening experience. My favorite thing about golf is how everything sits still and quiets down as the players get ready to swing, and the sudden bursts of energy that ensue the minute the sound of the clicking ball is heard all around! It always made me chuckle, and I was impressed with how people actually obliged! The event was really well organized, the grounds of the Emirates Golf Club are jaw-droppingly beautiful, like a scene from a movie with so much to take in and wonder about.

You would have probably heard by now that Tiger Woods has withdrawn from the tournament. It's been great having a chance to cover him during Round 1, including some exclusive shots of him leaving the organizers' office yesterday!

Here are some highlights from the first two days. Wishing all the players best of luck as they go on to compete in Round 3! Thanks so much to Mr. Stephane Barras and CaddiePlayer for the wonderful opportunity, and I look forward to covering more similar events in the future!

Teeing off with the Pro's | Dubai Documentary Photographer

January has been a month of discovery and new interactions for me. I stepped out of my comfort zone and covered a session I don't normally cover, of a sport I know nothing about, and boy am I glad that I did that!

I was commissioned to cover a private, two day training with one of the world's best golf instructors, a gentle soul by the name of David Leadbetter.

Although I am not at liberty to share the images from this session, I can share with you, however, this wonderful souvenir Mr. Leadbetter gifted my son.

Although I know close to nothing about golf, I walked away from those two sessions 10 years wiser, and with a definite yearn to learn.
